Helpful Suggestions for Your First Fertility Appointment
All of our consultations for new and returning patients are conducted virtually.
Have your partner, friend, or a family member with you
If you are part of a couple experiencing infertility, bring your partner to the first appointment.
If you are single and attempting to get pregnant, feel free to bring along a support person (like a friend or a family member).
It can be helpful to have someone you trust by your side as you begin your journey.
Bring your list of questions
Most of our patients have a lot of questions – but it’s easy to forget some of them while you are at your appointment.
Write down any questions you might have and bring them with you. Our doctors always welcome questions and they encourage you to educate yourself so you are comfortable and knowledgeable about your treatment.
Send us your New Patient forms prior to your first appointment
If your new patient forms are completed before your first appointment, we can have your chart ready and waiting for you. This will minimize potential delays to your appointment time.
Familiarize yourself with your insurance coverage for infertility
If you’re like most of our patients, you have questions about insurance coverage, costs of treatments, and finance options.
Our personal financial coordinators are available to verify your benefits and answer any questions before your first appointment.
We encourage you to contact one of our coordinators before your first appointment. You can contact them by calling 703-920-3890.
Medical Records
Request your medical records from your doctors
Due to privacy regulations, you need to request medical records from any other doctors you have. As there may be a delay in processing, please request these records as soon as possible.
Which Medical Records Should You Bring?
If you have had any prior testing or medical procedures, please fax all records to the office beforehand, or bring your records with you to your first appointment.
These records might include:
- Semen Analysis Results
- Blood tests, including hormonal testing results
- Cycle day 3 tests, FSH results, estradiol levels
- Prior medications and cycle history
- Records of previous IUI or IVF cycles or ovulation induction
- Your most recent pap test and/or cervical cultures
- HSG film/CD-ROM from the radiology facility where you had your test performed, or at the very least a printed report
Thank you for your consideration
We understand that this can be a very difficult time for you and we want to make the transition into our practice as easy as possible. We thank you for trusting us with your medical care and look forward to making your dreams of parenthood a reality.
